GAIN$ IDA Program

Metro Community Development has developed a unique method for assisting individuals with learning how to save.  Our method of delivery is based on a two phase approach.  Clients must complete 16 hours of financial literacy and 6 months of consistent savings.  Once they have completed phase 1, we guarantee a match if the required amount is saved.  The second phase also requires them to complete the asset-specific training and completion of saving goal. Their savings of $1,000 is matched by a ratio of 2:1.   This is the strength of the program.  During this period, we also had an outside agency conduct an evaluation, which also validated the strength of the two phase approach.  We also had a couple of articles done by the Mott Mosaic illustrating the success of the program.

Qualifications for the program are:

  1. Do you live in Genesee County?
  2. Are you at least 18?
  3. Do you have earned income (must be employed) that is less than this box below?
  4. Will you be using the funding for:
    1. Going back to school (tuition (not student loans))?
    2. Purchasing a home (down payments(not mortgage payments))?
    3. Starting or expanding a small business
